Group-Based Trajectory Modeling

Units: 6

Pre-requisites: A working knowledge of and experience with using statistics, regression, and Stata.

A developmental trajectory describes the course of an outcome over age or time. Group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) is a statistical method, based on finite mixture modeling, designed to identify clusters of units, usually people, that are following similar trajectories. This course will provide grounding in the statistical basis for GBTM as well as hands-on experience in using the STATA-based software for estimating GBTMs. Participants enrolled in the course for credit will be expected to complete a final project. Such participants will be given preference for enrollment.
