91-835, Technology Goals, Instruction and Assessment

Description:

This course provides an introduction to and overview of the field of educational technology. The course focuses on the integration of technology in education based on learning theory and teaching practice. The importance of matching the instructional program and its assessment to goals of the instructional program will be discussed and demonstrated. Developing plans to assess the technological needs and resources of learning environments and to evaluate technology implementation and outcomes will be covered in class as well as integrated in project work.

Some assignments will include linking goals - instruction - assessment. One project will consist of an in-depth study of an educational technology utilized in a discipline or grade level and the term project will involve designing an instructional unit using computer-based technology to deliver at least one of the four phases of instruction for that unit.
