Campus
Carnegie Mellon University is located in Oakland, the educational and medical mecca of the city, and sits just ten minutes east of downtown Pittsburgh. In addition to Carnegie Mellon, there are four institutions of higher education in this section of the city, providing a wealth of educational opportunities. The campus is conveniently located near many vibrant residential communities, and nearby shopping is plentiful and readily accessible. The area which surrounds Pittsburgh allows many opportunities for outdoor recreation.
The Carnegie Mellon campus is comprised of 100 acres and is adjacent to the 500-acre Schenley Park, complete with a public golf course, tennis courts, outdoor pool, ice-skating rink, and numerous jogging, hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing trails.
