Admitted Students Weekend:  RSVP form

Admitted Students Weekend is a two-day event at the Heinz College in which admitted students are invited to meet faculty, administrators, and current students. Learn more about the curriculum, career services, the city of Pittsburgh, financial aid options and anything else you want to know about the Heinz College before deciding on where to attend graduate school.

Many of our current students have offered to host admitted students in their homes for the weekend to make the trip to Pittsburgh more cost effective for you. If you would like to be hosted by a current student, please be sure to indicate this on the registration form.  

Did You Know?  6% of current Heinz Students that live with a roommate - met their roommate during Admitted Students Weekend!

The Heinz College's Office of  Financial Aid will offer an Information session for US and International students.

Welcome Reception for Admitted Students!!

At 4:00pm, the fun begins! This welcome reception is hosted by our current students, and will be attended by students, faculty and staff. Check-in at the door to receive your "Admitted" nametag and wear it with pride! This is a great opportunity for admitted students to interact on an informal basis with our current students as well as members of the faculty and staff from a variety of programs at Heinz. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity!!

Saturday, March 31, 2012 (tentative agenda)

We have a full day of activities for newly admitted and enrolling students to enjoy!  Members of the faculty, staff and current students will be available throughout the day to answer any questions, present new information about the programs and share their experiences at Carnegie Mellon as you decide if we are the right school for you.

Program-Specific Breakout Sessions 

These sessions are designed to give you an in depth review of the curriculum, course requirements and specializations available for your program of study. Curriculum discussions are led by the Director of the Program. Some programs will also include a project presentation by current students of the program. Experience firsthand what it would be like to be a student at Heinz!  And please feel free to ask questions throughout each session!!

Program-Specific Mock Classroom

What better way to see if the Heinz College is the right fit for you?  The Mock Classroom is taught by a Heinz College Faculty Member.

Lunch with a Career Services Representative and Current Students 

How does the Heinz College's Office of Career Services assist you in finding an internship and more importantly,  full-time employment,  upon graduation?  Where are our recent grads working and how much are they earning?  Should you shape your elective coursework in a particular way to be a competitive applicant for your dream job?  Learn this and more as you hear from the experts in our career services office. A Panel of Current Students will be introduced and will share their experiences and advice - and most importantly- answer your questions!!  We have allotted plenty of time for you to speak one-on-one with students and staff at the end of the session.

Lunch will include: assorted sandwiches (including vegetarian options) assorted chips and pretzels, assorted freshly baked cookies; soda and water

Student Affairs Presentation

We take your Academics very seriously at the Heinz College - but how will you make your mark Outside of classroom?  Learn about leadership opportunities at Heinz, Discover the growing Network of Student Organizations and learn how to receive funding to attend conferences and professional development events. Are you considering a low or unpaid internship - Find out how to receive funding directly from the College!

Pittsburgh Neighborhoods

Not familiar with the Pittsburgh area?  Take a slide tour of our Pittsburgh neighborhoods narrated by our Pittsburgh born and bred staff member!  Learn more about the city you may soon call home!

Pittsburgh Bus Tour

Enjoy a ride in a "classic" Yellow School Bus as we navigate the Pittsburgh city streets, mentioning points of interest along the way. Enjoy a lively game of "Pittsburgh Trivia" as we make our way to the final destination: PNC Park. The tours have limited space available so please be sure to indicate your interest on the RSVP form (link above).

Admitted Student Party at PNC Park

What better way to close out the weekend than with a party in your honor?  PNC Park (Home of the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball team) is an amazing location; boasting panoramic views of Pittsburgh and access to the Ball Park Club-level seating outside. Members of the Heinz College's Student Organizations will be on hand at the reception to discuss their organizations and answer any questions you may have. This party is a great opportunity to interact with students, faculty and administrators in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We strongly encourage you to take part in this final event of the evening!

Transportation:  The Yellow School Bus will provide a shuttle back to Hamburg Hall throughout the night with the last shuttle scheduled to depart at 7:00pm.

CMU's School of Music Gala Concert  Event

Celebrate the 100 year Founding of Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music at the historic Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Located just one mile from our Visitation Party at PNC Park. We will be offering 40 Free tickets to this event!  More information regarding the ticket give-away will be emailed prior to the weekend.
