Homecoming (Back to Top)

Homecoming is a time-honored tradition at Carnegie Mellon. Alumni and students explore career topics, policy issues and the diverse specialties of Carnegie Mellon. It is a time to share the Carnegie Mellon experience with fellow alumni, students, family and friends.

This year, Carnegie Mellon University has combined three separate events -- Homecoming, Family Weekend and International Festival -- into one celebration. The new combined celebration is Cèilidh [ka-le]: n. a Scottish Gaelic term meaning “visit,” used to describe a celebration with stories and tales, poems and ballads, music and dance. Cèilidhs were traditionally hosted in family and friends’ homes. Alumni and students are invited to participate in Homecoming events at Heinz College as well as Carnegie Mellon’s Cèilidh activities.

Network Events (Back to Top)

Each year, Heinz College partners with Carnegie Mellon and sponsoring employers to present several Network Nights. The regional receptions are a convenient forum for employers and alumni to meet current students, faculty, and each other. They provide an opportunity to reconnect and make new connections as well as to discuss internship and job opportunities, insights, and experiences.

You may remember these events from their origins at Heinz College. By incorporating the entire Carnegie Mellon community, Heinz College students and alumni have the opportunity to expand their social and profession networks. Please check the events calendar for upcoming Network Nights.

Mentor Programs (Back to Top)

The Heinz College mentor program connects current students and alumni with similar interests. The mentor relationship gives students new perspectives and insights into job specializations and career paths, and also allows Heinz College alumni to give back to the university with an invaluable form of support. Two programs provide different opportunities: the Distance-Mentor program connects students with alumni across the globe and the Mentor-Pittsburgh program brings together students and alumni located here in Pittsburgh.

Our mentor events provide an informal setting for participants in the Mentor-Pittsburgh program to strengthen their mentor relationship and meet others committed to the Pittsburgh region. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, these events are a good opportunity to learn more about the program. Please check the events calendar for upcoming mentor events.
