Alumni Mentor Program and Career Network

Your understanding of organizations, career options, trends, professional networking and job opportunities is invaluable to students and other alumni. You can share this knowledge by serving as a mentor to a current student or by participating in the Career Network.

Mentor Program

When you volunteer for the mentor program, you are paired with a student interested in your field of employment or career path or who shares a background similar to your own. As a mentor, you can provide current students with career guidance, academic advice, and wisdom gained from your personal and professional experiences. In addition, the mentor program gives students the opportunity to build personal relationships and expand their professional network as your mentee.

What makes the Alumni Mentor Program unique is that each alum-student "pair" determines how they will use the mentoring program. Initially, the student is provided with your email address and some background information about you, along with a set of Mentor Program Guidelines. After the student makes initial contact with you, you both can choose how you will interact (email, phone, etc.) and what to discuss (career plans, classes to take, etc.). It is an informal program that allows for a great deal of freedom in the types of mentor/mentee relationships.

Career Network

When you join the Career Network, you agree to make your contact information available to students and other alumni. You will be contacted on a one-time basis for advice on careers or your place of employment.
