Pittsburgh has been named America's Most Livable City by The Economist magazine, praised as a top U.S. destination by Rand McNally and featured in the travel section of the New York Times for its distinct neighborhoods, cultural offerings and green, easily-accessible suburbs. It boasts a low crime rate, good schools, a moderate cost of living and extensive public transportation (which is free for Carnegie Mellon students). The campus setting offers an urban environment and easy access to miles of parks and trails.

Adelaide, Australia

In May, 2006, Heinz College began operations at a new location in Adelaide, Australia, which serves as the school’s Asia Pacific education base. The Australia campus currently offers two master’s level degrees - the Master of Science in Public Policy and Management and the Master of Science in Information Technology.

Graduates of the Heinz School's Master of Science in Public Policy and Management and the School of Architecture's Master of Urban Design are eligible to enroll in the University of Oxford’s Master of Science in Nature, Policy and the Environment. The combination of degrees from Carnegie Mellon and the University of Oxford will provide a student with a significant knowledge base in urban design and environmental policy issues and practices.
