Global MISM 21-Month Track

The Global MISM (Master of Information Systems Management) Track is a 21-month international education experience which provides students access to multiple job markets, including in the United States (U.S.) and Australia. It is a professionally focused program, providing graduates with a competitive advantage leading to superior job placement in an increasingly competitive global job market. By undertaking the Global MISM Track, students will be able to enrol in more courses overall while gaining an international perspective.

Through the Global MISM Track, students undertake the following study structure:

Year 1 (August - May)
Study at Carnegie Mellon University – Australia in Adelaide, South Australia, completing most of the core courses required of all MISM students.

Year 1 (May - August)
Complete a summer internship in Australia or elsewhere globally. Please note: Global MISM students will not be able to complete their summer internship in the U.S. (unless they are a U.S. citizen). Our staff in Adelaide will assist you in identifying and securing an internship which suits your career goals.

Year 2 (August - May)
Students will complete the final two semesters of their degree at, and graduate from, our Pittsburgh campus in the U.S. with Carnegie Mellon University’s Master of Information Systems Management degree.

Graduation (May) and Beyond
Upon completion of your fourth and final semester, international graduates will be eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the U.S. If you are interested in accessing the American job market, our Office of Career Services in Pittsburgh will provide support and guidance during your second year in the program as you conduct your job search.

In Australia, 39 per cent of employers plan to increase full-time staff in information technology, according to a recent edition of The Hudson Report. For more information on the Australian IT job market please visit http://au.hudson.com/documents/au-hudson-report-july-2011.pdf.
