MSPPM Apply Now
Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree from a recognised higher education institution. Please follow the instructions below to apply for admission to Carnegie Mellon University - Australia. Applications must be completed online.
Official Transcript/s
Please provide official transcript/s for each higher education institution you have attended, including transcript/s where credit or a degree was not obtained. Transcript/s must be provided in English, in an enclosed envelope signed across the seal by the Registrar’s Office. Alternatively, certified copies with the original certification stamp can be sent by a public notary or attorney.
If you are applying for full-time study and are currently enrolled at another higher education institution, please ensure grades from your term of study prior to the application deadline are included in your official transcript. If this is not possible, please contact Admissions to discuss alternative arrangements.
Recommendation Forms
Please provide Recommendation Forms from three (3) individuals able to evaluate your intellectual, academic and/or professional aptitude. Recommendation Forms are to be submitted electronically via the online application system. Recommendation Forms can also be scanned and uploaded by the recommender.
Please contact Admissions if any of your recommenders do not read and/or write in English.
Graduate Records Exam (GRE) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
All applicants are required to complete the GRE, GMAT or Carnegie Mellon University - Australia online test. Test scores must be submitted directly by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to Carnegie Mellon University Heinz College using the following codes (the same codes apply for the Australia and Pittsburgh campus):

If completing the GRE, the General Test only is required and is valid for five (5) years.
GRE and GMAT Fee Support
Applicants who undertake the GRE/GMAT to satisfy the university’s admission requirements are eligible to apply for reimbursement of GRE/GMAT fees, as part of Carnegie Mellon University - Australia’s Scholarship and Awards program. To be eligible, applicants must be accepted and enrolled in either MSIT or MSPPM and retain and present an original receipt for the GRE/GMAT.
Language Proficiency Exams
Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit official score results from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). An IELTS score of 6.5 (or TOEFL equivalent) is required for admission.
Applicants from assessment level three (3) or four (4) countries who have completed studies for the duration of at least five (5) years at a higher education institution in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America or South Africa are exempt.
Intensive English Tuition
Carnegie Mellon University – Australia can arrange English tuition at the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) in Adelaide, South Australia for students who need to improve their English language skills to an IELTS score of 6.5 prior to commencing study at Carnegie Mellon University.
IELI develops the skills necessary for academic study, such as listening to lectures, note-taking, planning and writing essays and reports, and taking part in group discussions and spoken presentations. Students at IELI spend an average of 10 -30 weeks on intensive study to attain an IELTS score of 6.5.
IELTS
Test scores are valid for two (2) years and must be submitted directly by IELTS to the Carnegie Mellon University - Australia Admissions Office or emailed directly to Admissions for verification.
TOEFL
Test scores are valid for two (2) years and accepted for applicants who are citizens from assessment level 1 and 2 countries for visa purposes, whose native language is not English. Please use the following codes when registering for the test:

Essay/s
The essay/s is a vital component of your application. Applicants must submit a 1000-word essay describing their background, career goals and how the MSIT/MSPPM program will help them achieve these goals. Essay/s must be uploaded as part of your online application.
Resume
Please provide a current resume (maximum two pages) summarising your education, employment, volunteer experience, and relevant accomplishments. Please ensure you include a brief description of your employment responsibilities, position and the dates during which you were employed. The resume must be uploaded with your online application.
