Scholarships for Students from Australia

 

Carnegie Mellon University - Australia seeks to attract the very best and brightest students from around the globe to deliver on our mission.

To this end, our competitive scholarship and awards program allows us to remove hurdles which may otherwise prevent deserving future leaders from attaining a prestigious Carnegie Mellon University degree. The application assessment process for admission into Carnegie Mellon University - Australia, assesses both the applicant’s strength for entrance into a degree program, while simultaneously assessing merit for a scholarship or award.

Successful awardees accept an ambassadorial role representing Carnegie Mellon University - Australia. Their role provides a unique responsibility and leadership development opportunities, including representing the university at networking events, alumni functions, industry gatherings and community engagement activities.

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who exemplify success in the following areas:

The Human Capital Investment Scholarship

This prestigious scholarship is awarded to a superior applicant who demonstrates significant potential as an influential future leader. Successful awardees will be able to demonstrate an exceptionally strong academic record, possess an international mindset and be able to corroborate a significant track record of voluntary service.

A maximum of one full tuition scholarship of A$65,000 may be awarded to a truly exceptional candidate who significantly demonstrates the highest qualities of leadership.

The Scholarship for Emerging Leaders

Awarded to a civic-minded student who has demonstrated a significantly high standard of academic achievement and can actively demonstrate how his/her professional or volunteer work positions them as an emerging leader.

Multiple scholarships of up to A$45,000 may be awarded to exceptional candidates meeting the above criteria.

The Scholarship for Active Community Engagement

Awarded to students who have demonstrated a significantly high standard of academic achievement and who have already demonstrated a practical application of their higher education studies to enhance his/her community.

Multiple scholarships of up to A$45,000 may be awarded to exceptional candidates meeting the above criteria.

The Scholarship for International Development

Successful candidates for this scholarship will be able to demonstrate a passion for working within an international framework. Candidates who can articulate strong examples of activity including travel, work abroad and international studies will be considered for this award.

Multiple scholarships of up to A$45,000 may be awarded to exceptional candidates meeting the above criteria.

The Public Policy and Management Award

The successful recipient of this award will have demonstrated a practical application, work experience or aptitude in the area of Public Policy and/or Management. Beyond theory, the candidate will be able to demonstrate competency in human resource management, team management, public policy or organisational behaviour within an organisation.

Multiple scholarships of up to A$30,000 may be awarded to exceptional candidates meeting the above criteria.

The Information Technology and Innovation Award

The successful recipient of this award will have demonstrated a practical application and understanding of the role of Information Technology within an organisation. The candidate will be able to provide evidence of how his/her role has embraced and advanced the role of IT within their organisation.

Multiple scholarships of up to A$30,000 may be awarded to exceptional candidates meeting the above criteria.

South Australian Government Scholarships & Awards Programs 

The Carnegie Mellon University – Australia campus in Adelaide is part of the South Australian Government’s international university precinct. Through this initiative, the South Australian Government aims to provide a significant benefit to the local community and attract international students to the State. In recognition of its unique and historic contribution to the Australian education sector, the Government supports Carnegie Mellon University – Australia through a comprehensive scholarship program available to domestic and international applicants.

There are four scholarship support categories:

South Australian Industry Development Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to applicants from industry. Agreements may be sought with strategic industry partners whereby joint funded scholarships are provided to suitable employees.

South Australian International Skills Development Scholarships
The South Australian Government has a number of agreements with international partners. These partnerships have a strong skill development focus and are available to candidates nominated by international partner organisations.

Public Sector Scholarships
A dynamic and flexible public sector is crucial to South Australia. This scholarship is awarded to applicants identified as current or future leaders capable of directly influencing positive change in either State or Commonwealth jurisdictions.

Community Development Scholarships
The following scholarships are available in this category:

Regional or rural scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to applicants from regional or rural South Australia and ensures South Australians from regional and remote areas of the State share in the benefits of Carnegie Mellon University’s presence in Adelaide.

Local government scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to applicants employed in local government. The Local Government sector fulfils a critical role in providing an array of services to the community. This scholarship will assist in building local government capability.

Community and volunteer sector scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to applicants in management and leadership positions in non-government organisations and not for profit organisations.

Women in leadership scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to exceptional female applicants. Through this scholarship, women will be assisted in achieving leadership within their field, whether that is in the public sector or private sector.

Aboriginal leadership scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. The South Australian Government’s “Doing it Right” policy framework recognises that Aboriginal people represent the most disadvantaged group in our community. This scholarship will provide an outstanding opportunity to develop Aboriginal leaders.
