Master of Science in Public Policy & Management (MSPPM)

Heinz College graduates are employed around the world in governments, non-profits and virtually every industry in the private sector. As policy analysts, budget analysts, managers and consultants, among other positions, their work covers every area found in non-profit organizations, federal, state and local governments and private firms.

Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT)

Master of Science in Information Technology graduates are hired for a wide range of positions with governments, IT and strategy consulting firms, software companies, major corporations and start-ups, or they choose to start their own company. MSIT graduates constitute an international network of IT professionals.

Carnegie Mellon Heinz College Adelaide has a dedicated Career Services Manager to assist students and alumni to progress their careers.

Hours of Operation

Please drop in at any time between 8.30am–4.30pm Monday–Friday or make an appointment. Appointment times are available outside of these hours.

Services Offered

Career Services provided to students include Individual Counselling, Workshops and Employer Networking. Career Services will assist you to obtain a suitable position preferably prior to graduation and continuing assistance after graduation. In order to do this you should approach career services within your first semester.

Individual Counseling

The Career Services Manager will work with students one-on one to assist you with your Job Search Preparation, Job Search and Acceptance Process.
Individual Counseling will include the following:

  • Assessment of skills and career interests
  • Resume and cover letter reviews
  • Discussion of job search strategies
  • Interview preparation
  • Job offer review and salary negotiation discussions
  • Alumni contacts and other networks

Your first appointment with Career Services will take approximately 30 minutes. You should forward to the Career Services Manager your resume and details of positions you are interested in and any recent cover letters and job applications you have produced at least 2 days prior to your first appointment to enable review and effective using of counseling time.

Workshops

Workshops are offered throughout the year on a variety of job search tools and skills, including resume writing, interviewing, negotiating job offers, business etiquette, and case interviews.

Networking

Career Services arranges networking events, creates relationships with employers, and arranges on-campus presentations and interviews. As approximately 70% of all jobs are filled without being advertised, attending these events can be crucial in your success of finding a suitable position.

Heinz College alumni are a tremendous resource for students. They can share their perspectives not only on their current industry or employer, but also understand the skills learned and the adjustments needed in transitioning from Heinz to the work world.
