Cross-Cultural Management

This course examines the socio-cultural dimensions of managing in diverse and global contexts. Participants are expected to learn different ways members of various cultures think, communicate and behave, particularly within an organizational setting, in order to develop cross-cultural sensitivity and competency. Participants will also become more aware of their own culturally-based perceptions, patterns of thinking and behavior, communication styles, values and how they can be adapted to a diverse situation. Areas of discussion will also include problems and challenges facing multinational/transnational corporations and NGOs, including problems of intercultural communication and management, issues of leadership and decision making, cultural change, diversity management, and effective performance in today's global marketplace.
