Social Network Theory
This course will focus on the theory that underlies the field of Social Networks. We will explore themes from various disciplines that have contributed to social network theory, including sociology, anthropology, social psychology, communications and organizations. The class will discuss theoretical and empirical papers that have influenced the development of the field. Topics to be included: centrality, cliques, structural and regular equivalence, cognitive social structures, diffusion of innovation, social influence, homophily, micro and macro organizational structures, and community and political networks.
