This course initially provides a general overview and application of three quite distinct organizational paradigms - Economics, Politics and the Carnegie School. This is followed by an examination of a broad spectrum of organizational theories: more on the Carnegie School of Organizations, Internal Labor Market Theory, Organizational Demography, Organizational Ecology, Institutional Theory, Network Theory, Computer Simulation Models of Organizational Processes, Models Linking Technology and Organizations, Transaction Costs Theory and Environmental Contingency Theories. The material to be covered in class will be thoroughly examined. If time does not permit coverage of all of the syllabus, selected readings or areas will be deleted to ensure adequate attention to those which are covered.
