Strategic Planning for Creative Enterprises
Strategic Planning for Creative Enterprises is designed to lead the students through the development, implementation, documentation and evaluation of strategic and business planning in arts and culture organizations, including preparing the planning process, researching and assembling the materials and data, coordinating the process, compiling the information, presenting and gaining approval for the plan, documenting the entire process, evaluating the results as the plan is realized, and extending the plan. Students in the class will be divided into teams that will work with local organizations to help each one create a three-year strategic plan by the end of the semester. (NOTE: Though this is a six-unit course, it will meet over the entire semester. It will not, however, meet every Tuesday and Thursday of every week. The class will meet more often during the first month or so of the course to give the students a solid foundation re: the skills and practices. The class will meet less frequently during the balance of semester to give the students time to actually implement the planning process with their client organizations. Class meetings later in the semester will opportunities to review progress, share experiences and evaluate results.
