Accounting and Control in Not for Profit Organizations

Units: 6

This course provides an in-depth study of the analysis of financial statements and other public documents of non-governmental not-for-profit organizations. Topics to be covered include characteristics that make NPOs different from companies, earned and contributed revenues, budgeting for operations and long-term assets, cash flow management, boards and governance, and internal control systems in organizations.

One or more organizations will be assigned for study each week. Primary evaluation in this class will consist of a written analysis and class presentation of some relevant aspect of a not-for-profit organization of your choice.

95-715 Financial Accounting (Financial Statement Literacy and Analysis) 6 Credits
