Diversity Management & Intergroup Leadership
This course introduces students to diversity management in today’s workplace. The course will provide a brief history of U.S. corporations’ journey from affirmative action to diversity management, with specific emphasis on today’s efforts of integrating the concepts of diversity and inclusion into core business practices.Specific topics to be covered include four generations: building effective cross-functional and multicultural teams; technology and social media: a means for recruitment and global collaboration; and religion: creating internal practices and policies for employees and customers.Through lectures, assigned readings,class discussions, students will explore the new generation of diversity management.Guest lecturers will introduce students to their organizations and respective diversity strategies. Students will critique diversity management for relevance in today’s workplace.
