Jeremy Wilson 

Professional Background

Jeremy M. Wilson is the Associate Director of the Center on Quality Policing and a Behavioral Scientist at RAND. He holds the Willett Chair in Public Safety in the Center for Public Safety at Northwestern University and is a certified instructor in the Center’s Police Executive Management Program. Prior to joining RAND, he was a criminal justice professor at the University of Toledo. He is a member of the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He received his Ph.D. in public administration from The Ohio State University.

Research

Wilson’s areas of expertise include policing, internal security, the reconstruction of democratic police and justice systems, human trafficking, violence prevention, and program evaluation. Dr. Wilson’s recent books include Community Policing in America (Routledge), Police-Community Relations in Cincinnati (RAND), State and Local Intelligence in the War on Terrorism (RAND), and Establishing Law and Order After Conflict (RAND). He has also authored numerous articles on security in nation-building, policing, violence prevention, intelligence networks, and other public safety issues in numerous professional journals, including Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, Crime and Delinquency, Criminal Justice Review, Criminology and Public Policy, Justice Quarterly, Justice Research and Policy, and Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies and Management. In addition to multiple research grants from the Bureau of Justice Assistance and the National Institute of Justice, his research has been supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services, and numerous other sources.
