Public Service Career Opportunities Program (PSCOP)
The Public Service Career Opportunities program supports the school's commitment to enhance the quality of management and decision making in the public and nonprofit sectors. The program is designed to encourage academically qualified students with a passion for public service to accept public and non profit positions even though the salary levels of these positions may be lower than the salary levels of private-sector positions. The awards also are intended to provide financial assistance for post graduation expenses to students with significant education debt. Full time, graduating students in all programs who have incurred significant federal student loan debt while attending the Heinz School are eligible to apply.
PSCOP awardees are paid one-half of their total award upon graduation and their acceptance of employment in an eligible position. The second half of the award is paid to recipients one year from their date of graduation, provided they remain employed in an eligible position for one year following the first payment. Students may apply for a PSCOP award during their final year of enrollment.
A request for applications and the application deadline announcement will be sent via email to graduating students when the annual application process occurs in the Spring.
