Our expansive wireless network supports speeds in excess of 100Mbps, offering connectivity in Hamburg Hall and across campus. To connect, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Connect to the CMU wireless network.
Locate CMU in your wireless network list and select it. CMU is available across campus.
Step 2: Secure and register with FirstConnect.
Go to the FirstConnect web site www.cmu.edu/computing/firstconnect/.
- If you secured your computer, select Quick Registration.
- If you did not secure your computer, select Secure Registration.
- For your mobile devices and other network-enabled devices, select Quick Registration.
Step 3: Connect
Once registered, both the CMU and CMU-SECURE wireless networks will be available without restriction. Whenever possible, we encourage you to use the CMU-SECURE wireless network. This network provides data encryption to protect against certain identity theft exploits. It also provides a higher security profile, requiring your Andrew userID and password to connect.

To connect and set CMU-SECURE as default, follow the steps for your operating system or mobile device. CMU-SECURE is available in academic buildings and some residence halls.
