PPM Programs

Martin Black, Director

Martin advises students interested in careers in public sector consulting and finance, federal government, policy research and international development. He joined Heinz College in the Summer of 2002 after 20 years of work and study in New York City. As director, he works with Career Services staff to design outreach to the office’s three main client groups: students, employers and alumni; provides periodic reports and statistics on the Heinz student employment picture; sets the calendar for on and off-campus career events; manages CMU and external partnerships with peer policy schools; and evaluates and builds office resources in response to changing student needs. Martin’s graduate studies were in Comparative Literature and German Cultural Studies at New York University. Since then he worked as a graduate student advisor, next for a major New York City development firm, later as the operations manager of a cultural institute, and then for six years as a program director for a number of work-exchange fellowships to Europe – the US State Department funded Congress-Bundestag Young Professional Exchange, an English language Tutor Exchange to Eastern Europe and the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program for future leaders in public policy, law, business, politics and journalism. Most recently Martin edited an anthology of the works of Nobel Laureate Heinrich Böll.

Kris Cecchetti, Associate Director

Kris advises students pursuing careers in  the non profit sector as well as Arts and Entertainment. In this role, she supports both Pittsburgh based and LA based (MEIM) students. She joined the Heinz College Career Services Staff in October 2008, after serving as the Coordinator of  Health Promotion within Carnegie Mellon Health Services for the last four years. Kris holds a Masters degree in Public Health as well as a Masters degree in Public Administration, both from the University of Pittsburgh. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist.

Anita Lengvarsky, Assistant Director                                                                                                                                              

Anita advises students with an interest in the public sector who are pursuing careers in Local, State and Federal Government. She joined the Heinz College Career Services staff in September 2009, after serving as the Director of Programs for the Local Government Academy.  She was responsible for program coordination, curriculum development, event planning, and the Municipal Intern Program. Anita has also worked as a Community and Economic Development Educator in a joint position with the Penn State Cooperation Extension and Smart Growth Partnership.   She graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in Geography, with concentrations in Regional Planning and Tourism. While at Shippensburg, Anita worked in the Career Education Department advising students on career options.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Osona Steave, Recruitment Coordinator

Osona handles the financial and recruitment aspects of Career Services. She is the one to see for Job Search Assistance Fund questions/processing, interview timeslots, TartanTRAK registrations, and other fiscal based special requests. Osona joined Carnegie Mellon University in 2005, prior to that she was an Administrative/Grants Coordinator with the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Osona is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Information Technology at Duquesne University.

Damian Cole, Career Advisor

Damian is the coordinator of events such as the Public Service Fair and Pittsburgh Non-Profit Fair (.ORG) and will be advising students with resume/cover letter writing, mock interview and internship placement. Damian also manages the Heinz College Career Events online page and he assists with other major career events such as .GOV/Federal Career Day.  Damian joined the Heinz College Career Services Staff in June 2008. He graduated from Saint Francis University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Some of Damian’s undergraduate activities include Chair of the Student Activities Organization Comedy Division, member of the community service organization S.M.I.L.E., and managing the SFU History Department Website. Currently, Damian is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he will apply skills related to student development and other various fields in the collegiate environment.

ISM Programs

Ron Delfine, Director 

Ron Delfine is responsible for the Career Services functions for the MISM, MSIT and MSISPM programs. These functions include providing a comprehensive range of services, programs, and materials focusing on career exploration, skill development and placement services. He is also responsible for developing and expanding the base of organizations interested in offering employment opportunities to students graduating from these programs. Prior to his current position, he worked as an executive recruiter for Crown Advisor, Inc, based in Pittsburgh and has also worked in the Carnegie Mellon Career Center as a Career Consultant for the College of Business Administration and the Mellon College of Science. Ron holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, both from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Susan Timko, Assistant Director

Susan assists the MISM, MSISPM and MSIT students with all facets of their career needs including career and skill development as well as employer relations. Susan came to ISM Career Services by way of serving the College of Humanities and Social Sciences for two years at Carnegie Mellon. While there, she gained value experience with the Information Systems students and greatly enjoyed the experience. Prior to coming to Carnegie Mellon, she served for several years as Director of Career Services at Washington & Jefferson College. Rounding out her experience includes over seven years of training, employment, recruitment, and employer relations experience in the healthcare, technology and higher education industries. Susan has a Masters of Arts Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Washington & Jefferson College.
