Education

OVERVIEW

The education industry is vast. It can include early childhood, elementary, secondary, and higher education. Within those categories you can work in the public sector with city or local school districts; work in the nonprofit sector with an institution of higher education or a nonprofit organization doing research or advocacy; or work in the private sector as a consultant or specialist.

In the education field, there is a focus on accountability and performance. The success of an institution is constantly being measured and analyzed in an effort to improve performance. In addition, as of late, there has been a willingness to try new education strategies such as magnet and charter schools. There is also a big push to increase the use of technology in education.

Students interested in the education sector should focus on their analysis, leadership, and management skills. Employers will want you to be able to analyze data and finances, make decisions accordingly, and then propose or implement the necessary changes.
