Would you like to dramatically improve your interviewing skills? Heinz College Career Services Office offers several resources to help prepare you to walk into that interview exuding more confidence and boosting your chances of getting hired.

Mock Interview

Completing a mock interview will help prepare you for interviewing with companies recruiting on-campus by providing you with the opportunity to practice and develop interviewing skills in a supportive setting. Mock interviews are offered several times throughout the year and are conducted by both career services staff members as well as external representative from a variety of organizations.

  • It’s a comfortable, non-threatening way to get used to being interviewed.
  • You'll receive immediate feedback and advice.
  • With practice you can develop and/or refine your interviewing skills.

Perfect Interview Software

You can also use Perfect Interview Software which creates a compelling and realistic "simulated interview" experience. This is perfect for the busy student who doesn’t have time to dress-up and schedule a mock interview. An interviewer will ask challenging questions like those in a real job interview and will prompt you to respond. This program is interactive because you'll record your response and replay it back to critique your response. You can also choose to hear feedback by an interview coach.

Perfect Interview Instructions:

  1. A dedicated computer with the PI Software is available to students in HBH A002
  2. New users must register a user name and password, which allows you to save your interview so you can go back to it if you cannot complete it or review it again at a later time.
  3. On the home page, click on the link that says new user and follow the simple step-by-step directions to get started with the interview.
  4. Once you’ve completed these steps you will be given options on the length and type of questions you want the interviewer to ask.
  5. Choose either short/medium/long interview depending on how much time you want to spend and click the pre-selected questions by the interviewer or you can have the option of catering the questions to areas you feel you need to work on more.
  6. The program allows you to record yourself with the computer camera so you can play back and watch your response.
  7. Click on the next button to move on to another question.
  8. Click on the respond button to answer a question and click on the record button to record your response via the camera.
  9. For assistance on answering a question, you can either click on view alternative response given by an interviewee or you can click on coach assistance given by a professional interviewer.
  10. The Perfect Interview program allows you to set your own pace and build up your confidence in the interview process. Have fun with it and use it as many times as needed to ensure your success at the next interview.
  11. Log out when finished and to start another interview, please log in with your user name and password.
