Commencement 2009

Congratulations, Graduates!

Welcome to Carnegie Mellon's H. John Heinz III College Class of 2009 Commencement site. The College would like to extend congratulations to the graduates and their families.

Graduates of the School of Information Systems and Management gathered at the Philip Chosky Theater in Carnegie Mellon’s Purnell Center for the Arts on May 16. Keynote Speaker Francisco D’Souza (Tepper ’92), president and chief executive officer of Cognizant, shared his insights on globalization, and how it enables graduates to truly change the world.

On May 17, the main Carnegie Mellon ceremony convened in Gesling Stadium, and graduates were treated to a keynote address from Google CEO Eric Schmidt. Later, School of Public Policy and Management graduates assembled at nearby Rodef Shalom Congregation in Oakland. Pittsburgh civic leader Anne Lewis (Heinz MPM ’90) delivered the Alumni Address, urging graduates to make an impact, just as Andrew Carnegie, Richard Mellon and John Heinz did.

Additional ceremonies are planned for the College's August and December 2009 graduates.
