Heinz College Scholarships

A separate application is not necessary for consideration for the following Heinz College scholarships. MSIT students who indicate in the application for admission that they want to be considered for financial aid are automatically considered for any applicable scholarship opportunities.

Students who are eligible for more than one scholarship from Heinz College may not be entitled to the minimum award for the second scholarship.

MSIT Merit-Based Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to exceptional students joining the MSIT program based on the strength of their Application for Admission and demonstrated potential for advancing in their careers. Students who indicate interest in receiving financial aid on their Application for Admission are considered. A separate application is not required.

Government and Non-Profit Scholarships

Students employed by U.S. federal, state, or local government or a non-profit organization are eligible to receive a scholarship equal to 25% of tuition costs. In order to qualify, students must provide written verification of employment on their employer's letterhead with the Application for Admission. The letter must be signed by the student's supervisor. Students are asked to submit verification of continued eligible employment to the MSIT program office annually.

Regional Leaders Scholarship

The Heinz School offers a limited number of Regional Leaders Scholarships to incoming full- and part-time students who have demonstrated a commitment to the Pittsburgh community. Applicants interested in the Regional Leaders Scholarships are required to have one of their three letters of recommendation written by someone who can testify to the applicant's commitment to and impact on the Pittsburgh community.
