Heinz College Scholarships
A separate application is not necessary for consideration for the following Heinz College scholarships. MSPPM students who indicate in the application for admission that they want to be considered for financial aid are automatically considered for any applicable scholarship opportunities.
Students who are eligible for more than one scholarship from Heinz College may not be entitled to the minimum award for the second scholarship.
W.W. Cooper Scholarships
The W.W. Cooper Scholarships are merit-based scholarships established in honor of the school's first dean. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding applicants to the MSPPM program.
MSPPM Scholarships
These merit-based scholarships are awarded to exceptional students joining the MSPPM program.
Yellow Ribbon
Heinz College recognizes the contributions made by members of the US Armed Forces and is proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program for eligible post-9/11 veterans. If you are eligible for VA payment of 100% of the highest in-state tuition plus 50% of the gap through the Yellow Ribbon Program, Heinz College pays the remaining 50% of the gap through Heinz matching funds up to $8,200 per year, for your tuition and fees. Students who are eligible for full funding under the Yellow Ribbon Program are eligible for other additional Heinz College scholarships ONLY when the remaining gap exceeds $8,200. Most students who are eligible for 100% benefits under the Yellow Ribbon program receive full funding of tuition and fees through the Yellow Ribbon partnership with Heinz College.
Coro Scholarships
Coro Fellows admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester. To be considered, applicants should indicate Coro experience on the application for admission.
Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) Scholarships
RPCVs admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester. To be considered, applicants should indicate RPCV status on the application for admission and should include a copy of the certificate of service in the application packet.
AmeriCorps Scholarships
AmeriCorps alumni admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester. To be considered, applicants should indicate AmeriCorps experience on the application for admission.
Marco Delgado Scholarship for the Advancement of Hispanics in Public Policy and Management
Marco Delgado (MSPPM, '90) started a scholarship fund at Heinz College designated for talented MSPPM students who are expected to make a significant contribution to the Latino community. Awards range from $5,000 to full tuition per semester.
Heinz City Year Scholarships
Heinz College awards a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester to eligible students who are City Year alumni entering the MSPPM program. To be considered, applicants should indicate their City Year experience on the Application for Admission.
Heinz College Lutheran Volunteer Corps Scholarships
Heinz College awards a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester to eligible students who have served as a member of the Lutheran Volunteer Corps and are entering the MSPPM program. To be considered, applicants should indicate Lutheran Volunteer Corps experience on the Application for Admission.
Heinz College Jesuit Volunteers International Scholarships
Heinz College awards a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester to eligible students who have served as a member of the Jesuit Volunteers International organization and are entering the MSPPM program. To be considered, applicants should indicate Jesuit Volunteers International experience on the Application for Admission.
Texas Legislative Internship Program
Members of Texas Legislative Internship Program (TLIP) admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester. To be considered, applicants should indicate their involvement with TLIP on the application for admission.
University of Texas in San Antonio Legislative Scholars
University of Texas in San Antonio (UTSA) Legislative Scholars admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship at least $6,000 per semester. To be considered, applicants should indicate their involvement with UTSA Legislative Scholars Program on the application for admission.
Teach for America Scholarships
Teach for America Alumni admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester - most receive more. To be considered, applicants should indicate Teach for America status on the application and should include a copy of the certificate of service in the application packet.
Pittsburgh Regional Leaders Scholarships
Heinz College offers a limited number of Regional Leaders Scholarships to incoming full- and part-time students who have demonstrated a commitment to the Pittsburgh community. Applicants interested in the Regional Leaders Scholarships are required to have one of their three letters of recommendation written by someone who can testify to the applicant's commitment to and impact on the Pittsburgh community.
Fulbright Scholarships
Heinz College awards scholarships of at least $6,000 per semester to eligible Fulbright Fellows entering the MSBTM program. More information on the Fulbright Fellowship program can be found on the program website.
Heinz College Truman Scholarships
Heinz College awards a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester - most receive more - to eligible students entering the MSPPM program who are finalists in the Harry S. Truman Scholarship competition. To be considered, applicants should indicate their participation in this program on their Application for Admission.
Congressional Hunger Center (CHC) Scholarships
Current CHC fellows and alumni admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester. To be considered, applicants should indicate completion of either of the CHC Fellowship programs on the application for admission.
StartingBloc Scholarships
StartingBloc Fellows admitted to the MSPPM program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $6,000 per semester - most receive more. To be considered, applicants should indicate their involvement with StartingBloc on the application for admission.
West Point Candidates Scholarships
West Point active duty officers admitted to the MSPPM program will be provided with a scholarship equal to 55% of the then-current tuition each semester. The remaining expenses (45% of tuition, all fees, textbooks and other required course materials, accommodation, meals, travel and other personal expenses) are the responsibility of the applicable West Point Candidate and/or West Point.
New York City Urban Fellows Scholarships
Heinz College awards this scholarship to incoming students in the MSPPM program who have been NYC Urban Fellows. The award is made at the time of admission and the student receives at least $6,000 per semester – most receive more. To be considered, applicants should indicate their involvement with Urban Fellows Program on the application for admission.
Posse Foundation Scholarships
The Heinz College selects one of the Posse Scholars/Alumni each year to receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend the MSPPM program. In addition, Heinz College awards partial tuition scholarships to all other Posse Scholars/Alumni admitted to the MSPPM program. The award is made at the time of admission and the Posse Scholars/Alumni receives at least $6,000 per semester – most receive more. To be considered, applicants should indicate their involvement with The Posse Foundation on the application for admission.
Good Shepherd Scholarships
Heinz College awards partial tuition scholarships to Good Shepherd Volunteers/Alumni admitted to the MSPPM program. The award is made at the time of admission and the Good Shepherd Volunteers/Alumni receives at least $6,000 per semester – most receive more. To be considered, applicants should indicate their involvement with Good Shepherd Volunteers on the application for admission.
University of Texas San Antonio's Legislative Scholars Program
Heinz College awards this scholarship to incoming students in the MSPPM program who have been members of the UTSA Legislative Scholars Program. The award is made at the time of admission and the student receives at least $6,000 per semester - most receive more. To be considered, applicants should indicate their involvement with UTSA's Legislative Scholars Program on the application for admission.
