Educational Leadership Certificate Program
Seventy-two units are required for the completion of the Educational Leadership Certificate. Most students in the program work full time and enroll in one or two classes per semester. These students complete the certificate requirements in three to six semesters. Classes are held in the evening from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and summer intensive courses in the daytime are also available. The evening schedule makes it possible for individuals who work full time to earn the certificate without interrupting their careers. Individuals who complete the Certificate program will be eligible for the Pennsylvania Department of Education Principal’s Certification with the addition of a 180 hour practicum and at least 5 years of teaching experience.
Students who enroll must hold a Masters degree from an accredited post-secondary institution along with foundational course in finances, economics, data analysis, writing and speaking. Previous coursework will be reviewed prior to program acceptance to assure the applicant has the necessary foundation coursework to be successful in the Educational Leadership Certificate program.
Though the graduate Certificate program in Educational Leadership is a significant credential, it is not master’s degree. However, units earned from the Certificate program may be applied toward the completion of the Master of Public Management (MPM) degree.
