Biography
Mark Giaquinto is an adjunct professor for H. John Heinz III College and an adjunct associate professor of Health Policy and Management in the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. Mark has over 20 years of financial and management experience with various western Pennsylvania healthcare institutions including academic medical centers, for-profit and not-for profit psychiatric hospitals, healthcare joint ventures, practice plans and a pediatric hospital. He is currently the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Institute for Transfusion Medicine and serves as the Treasurer for the Board of Trustees for the corporation and all of its subsidiaries. Previous to this position he served as the Vice President of Financial and Administrative Services for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Children’s Community Pediatrics for 7 years and Controller for five years. Before joining Children’s Hospital, Mark spent 18 months as the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer for Group Practice Affiliates, Pennsylvania (a joint venture between Charter Behavioral Health (Magellan) and Intercare, a local psychiatric provider system). The joint venture managed a psychiatric “carve-out” of two capitation contracts and was financially responsible for a psychiatric hospital. Mark began his healthcare experience with Allegheny General Hospital and its wholly-owned psychiatric hospital from 1985 through 1994. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (accounting emphasis) from Duquesne University and passed the Certified Public Accountant exam in 1985.
Honors:
Mark received an honorary membership in Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society in 2005 for his service to Duquesne University and his professional achievement.
Teaching:
Mark has been an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University since 2004 and at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health since 2007. His teaching is focused on financial management of healthcare organizations. Mark has also made numerous presentations related to his healthcare experiences:

Community Service:
Mark serves on various local boards including The Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania and The Ronald McDonald House Charities. He has also served as a member of Duquesne University School of Business Alumni Board since 1990. During this time he has coordinated benefits that have raised over $265,000 toward scholarships for financially needing students. He has served as coordinator of various golf events that have financially supported local charities. He also volunteered as a girl’s basketball coach in his home community from 1997 through 2004.
