Institute for Social Innovation
Have you ever wanted a career where your innovative solutions can solve society's most pressing social issues?
Are you part of a groundbreaking organization guided by a social mission?
Maybe you're an investor, drawn to an inclusive and equitable brand of capitalism, who sees entrepreneurial potential in people and places where others overlook it.
With the value of social innovators gaining in prominence worldwide, the Institute for Social Innovation (ISI) at Heinz College was created for change agents like you.
As a world leader in deploying technology to meet basic human needs, Heinz offers some of the most successful public policy programs in the world. Now, we're making a more powerful impact as a center of social innovation by fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among people and organizations driven by a social mission, through education, research, and local and global partnerships.
By feeding off Heinz's interdisciplinary and analytical approach to practical problem solving, ISI leverages our expertise and influence in technology, policy, and management while supporting its mission of educating those of intelligent action.
The ISI helps you by:
- Facilitating hands-on learning experiences that double as technical assistance for nonprofit and for-profit clients including the Manchester Bidwell Corporation, MetLife, FINCA and Veterans Leadership Program.
- Bringing pioneering social entrepreneurs to Pittsburgh for speaking engagements, workshops, and mini-courses.
- Supporting efforts in sustainable local agriculture and other regional green collar workforce development.
- Incubating start-ups built around sustainable and scalable solutions for education, health, and the environment, and other basic human rights and needs.
