Each spring, the Institute for Social Innovation will advertise the fellowship opportunity and call for interested students to apply. The students will be required to submit their resume and an essay, discussing their commitment to social innovation and how the Lingren Fellowship will help them put that commitment into action during their second year of study at the Heinz School. Potential activities the fellowship can support include but are not limited to an apprenticeship at a social enterprise, or a student-led research project. A committee of Heinz School staff will review the applications and select the recipient.
