MMM Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, candidates must fulfill the following prerequisites:

  • Hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited School of Medicine or School of Osteopathy; and
  • Have completed The American College of Physician Executive (ACPE) program in medical management or an equivalent course of study (please see below for more detail).

Students are selected based on professional competence, leadership potential and demonstrated ability to benefit from the MMM program. In addition to the application form, candidates must submit official transcripts from all college-level courses and three letters of recommendation from faculty, supervisors or other professionals who have first-hand knowledge of the candidate.

Pre-Requisite Courses

Physicians are required to complete pre-requisite courses prior to admission into the program. There are two options for these pre-requisites:

  1. Successful completion of the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) Section 1 Coursework (125 hours): http://www.acpe.org/education/index.aspx. We highly recommend this option for all of our incoming students and provide a $2500 tuition discount for physicians who have completed Section 1 coursework.
  2. Successful completion of three distance courses offered through Carnegie Mellon in the summer prior to each on-site session. These courses are:
    1. Introduction to Health Law
    2. Introduction to Finance (Financial Statement Analysis)
    3. Managing Physician Performance
There is a $7500 fee for students who wish to enroll in these three courses.
