MMM Curriculum

Courses in the MMM program take advantage of the work experiences that students bring to the classroom. The program provides a professional, problem-solving approach to learning that combines theory with practical tools and real-world application.

During the degree's 18-month period, students can expect to spend approximately ten hours per week in independent study at home. This independent work is a compilation of reading, essay writing, case study analysis and quantitative homework completion. Interaction with instructors and students via discussion boards and e-mail is an important feature of the distance courses at Carnegie Mellon. Students form cohorts, according to their start dates, taking the same classes at the same time.

The MMM combines on-campus residential sessions and distance learning course work that allows the physician to pursue a full-time degree while continuing to work in an unrelenting industry.

Over a period of 18 months, students will attend four 4.5 day on-site sessions and complete 9 distance-learning courses. Students complete three distance-learning courses during each 22-week intermission period between on-campus sessions.
