Social Activities

Students plan recreational activities for Heinz School, MISM and MSIT students. Each month, students from different degree programs host a Thank Goodness It's Friday (TGIF) party for the entire school. Examples of recent TGIF activities include canoeing, a hayride, an annual talent show and tours of area museums. The Heinz School also holds a monthly Ph.D. gathering so doctoral students and faculty can socialize and discuss their research.

An informal tradition that has developed over the years is Over The Hump (OTH); every Wednesday, students meet at a bistro or club to relax and have a good time.

The school organizes other informal events, such as seasonal parties, movies, community outreach activities and potluck dinners for students who do not go home during Holiday breaks. There are also fundraising events throughout the year to support the Internship Opportunity Fund.
