CIO Institute Curriculum

Choose from one of these two CIOI curriculums:

CIO Certificate Program. This one-year program offers eight three-day, high-caliber workshops designed for those professionals responsible for information and technology management. All courses are autonomous, so register for one, several, or complete the entire CIOI certificate program. Once you complete the program, you'll receive a Federal CIO University Certification issued jointly by the Federal CIO University and Carnegie Mellon. Carnegie Mellon’s CIO Institute offers several unique advantages:

• World-Renowned Faculty: Our CIO Certificate program is taught by top full-time research and teaching faculty from Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz College, as well as leading industry experts
• Convenient Schedule: The program consists of eight, 3-day courses that can be completed in as little as 8 months, or complete the courses at your own pace
• Accessible Location: All instruction takes place in Arlington, VA
• Public Sector Expertise: Many Heinz College professors teach across Information Systems and Management and Public Policy and Management, bringing valuable public and private sector policy insight.

CIO Certificate + Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT). Our Certificate-to-Degree option allows you to build upon your CIO Certificate with a graduate degree by the #1-ranked university in Information Technology & Management by US News & World Report. You may apply for the MSIT distance degree after completing at least five CIO Certificate modules or within one year of completing the entire CIO Certificate program. This option provides advanced standing credit and tuition scholarship towards the MSIT degree.
