Corinne Gray, Master of Arts Management 2010
Corinne is a Fulbright Scholar from Trinidad and Tobago who is currently pursuing a Master of Arts Management degree at Carnegie Mellon. Her work as a professional musician has taken her to the UK, Asia and the Middle East. Until last year she was program Ccoordinator for the Trinidad Theatre Workshop where she implemented arts education programming for “at-risk” youth. Prior to this, she worked as an arts educator both in the school system, and on special projects that used the arts in public and social education. These include a UNICEF project on using the arts to curb violence among young people, and a rehabilitation-through-theatre programme for juvenile detainees in the Caribbean. In 2007, Corinne started a project called “HIV & Me” which explores using theatre and drama in HIV/AIDS education for young people. She travelled to Ghana where she spent time in a rural village facilitating workshops for the community. While there she rehearsed and directed 20 young people in a play about HIV that toured three villages. Corinne holds both a BA in Music and a Practitioner’s Certificate in Drama/Theatre in Education from the University of the West Indies. Her career aspirations include developing and managing programs that use the arts and culture for social reform and community development.
