MSBTM Course Requirements

To earn the MSBTM degree, you'll need to:

  • Begin the program in the Fall semester (late August).
  • Complete a total of 198 units with a cumulative QPA of 3.0.
  • Complete the core curriculum in:
    • General Policy and Management
    • Biotechnology Industry
    • Biotechnology Science
  • Undertake an internship in the summer between the first and second years.
  • Satisfy the elective course distribution requirement: Electives must include a minimum of 12 units from each school and a maximum of 12 units from the Tepper School. Tepper, Heinz and MCS electives must be approved by the MSBTM Program Director.

Spring Semester

Principles of Biotechnology
Marketing Management
Production and Operations Management
Biotechnology Industry, Structure and Strategy
Biotechnology Regulation, Policy and Compliance
Manufacturing and Lab Practices

Upper Level Biology or Chemistry Lab - Immunology
Risk Analysis - Behavioral Decision Making

Spring Semester

Policy and Politics in American Institutions
Medical Ethics
Electives (24 units)*

*Elective Course Distribution: Tepper, Heinz and MCS electives must be approved by the Program Director. Distribution must include a minimum of 12 units from each school and a maximum of 12 units from the Tepper School. Suggested electives include:
