MEIM Careers

Heinz College treats career development as seriously as its academics. The MEIM program has a dedicated Career Services Director at Heinz College in Pittsburgh who works individually with each MEIM student from the very beginning of the program.

MEIM leadership is committed to helping students prepare for the exciting, competitive environment of the Entertainment industry, not only through the quality and structure of its curriculum, but through a constant and persistent focus on the personal career development tools needed to succeed in this fast-paced business. Students learn to design and execute a targeted career development plan, based on their evolving interests, goals and abilities.  While the MEIM leadership team will not find jobs for the students, they provide career development tools necessary to ensure and maintain a thriving career. MEIM staff members offer assistance from the first entry-level job, to the strategic scenarios that will lead students to a successful long-term career.

The Growing MEIM Alumni Community

The MEIM Alumni are among the program’s biggest boosters. Alumni provide leads to internship and job opportunities, and attend many of the regular program events, including the Welcome Week that kicks off the second year in Los Angeles. Many are actively engaged as mentors and coaches for current students. Alumni are regularly invited to share their insights and experiences with the current students, both in Pittsburgh (we fly them in) and in Los Angeles. Current students find these contacts enormously helpful and encouraging, since the alumni have just recently undergone the same experiences, taken the same courses, and wrestled with the same career questions and decisions.

MEIM Career Outcomes

For the past three years, over 80% of the graduating classes at the MEIM program have found employment in the entertainment industry within 90 days of graduation. In 2013, over 50% of the class had jobs within two weeks of graduation, and a few students acquired jobs prior to commencement.
