HCPM Chatham University 4+1 Program

Heinz College offers an Accelerated Master’s Program to qualified Chatham University students. The program—structured as four years at Chatham followed by one year at Heinz—results in students receiving a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in less time than is normally required.

Application Materials

  • Completed application form. Apply online.
  • 3 letters of recommendation
    • 2 or 3 letters from Chatham University faculty
    • 1 of the letters may be from a professional contact – i.e. internship supervisor, hourly position supervisor
  • Official Chatham University transcript and, if applicable, official transcript from all colleges or universities attended, regardless of whether credit or degree was obtained.
  • An essay describing your interest in this field and how your experience and proposed study will help you reach your career goals.
  • A current resume with your education information, work experience (including internships and hourly positions) and extracurricular information.
  • GRE/GMAT (requirement waived for applicants with a G.P.A. greater than 3.0).
  • Completed Undergraduate Course Requirements form with advisor’s signature.
  • Interviews are required. Contact the Admissions Office to schedule.
  • Application deadline is January 10*.

*The application form must be submitted via the online application system by the deadline. Supporting materials sent by mail (if any) must be postmarked by the deadline. Our admissions committee cannot begin reviewing your application until we have received all of your application materials. If space remains in the class after the deadline we will continue to accept applications. Scholarship opportunities after the deadline are limited.

Financial Aid

  • Undergraduate students do not qualify for HCPM financial aid.
  • Students will qualify for aid in the final two semesters of the HCPM-AMP (after having completed a Bachelor’s degree).

Degree Requirements

  • 180 units are required to complete the HCPM program.
  • Up to 24 units of undergraduate classes can be transferred while enrolled in the HCPM program and are counted toward the required 180 units*.
  • All of the undergraduate courses should be upper division, and should be relevant to the content of the Heinz degree. Only undergraduate courses with a grade of B or better may be counted toward the degree.
  • 156 units of HCPM coursework remains to be completed.
  • Prerequisite coursework in pre-calculus and statistics must be successfully completed prior to enrolling in the program. Prerequisite course grades should be a “B” or higher.
  • The completed bachelor’s degree requirements are waived for AMP applicants.

Benefits

  • You will complete two semesters of coursework as an integrated undergraduate-graduate student before graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in May.
  • You will complete three semesters of coursework after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree but you’ll only be required to pay tuition for two semesters.
  • You will be eligible for HCPM financial aid in the final semesters of the program (after having completed your Bachelor’s degree).
  • You may be able to exempt certain Heinz courses with units earned in undergraduate coursework which would give you more flexibility in course selection (discuss this with your graduate advisor).
