No longer considered an auxiliary function or support unit within organizations and professional hierarchies, human resource management has emerged as the gateway, literally and figuratively for companies, corporations and industries of all sizes. From talent acquisition and placement to the application and adherence of federal and state law; discrimination and sensitivity awareness to institutional policy and compliance, the department of human resources is no longer for filing grievances and W-2s. Keeping up with emerging trends, and providing students with the foundation needed to develop and apply these trends in the greater business – employee relationship, the MPM-HRM provides students with the professional framework and theoretical knowledge to lead organizations through the management-based, leadership-experienced and administratively-directed industry that encompasses the collective employer – employee relationship.
In addition to the master’s degree program, students may also complete a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management. Certificate seeking students will complete 72 units of specialized coursework spread across 48 units of core program requirements and an additional 24 units of advanced elective coursework.
