HEINZERS! Welcome to the Dean’s Leadership Fellows homepage and thank you for taking the time to check out our initiatives and ideas. There are going to be plenty of ways for you to get involved this coming year with some exciting initiatives, so keep your eyes peeled for this year’s project, The Heinz Connection.
How many of you have friends on one of the other campuses? Maybe you have a colleague in LA with whom you studied marketing with last year. Or perhaps there is a student in DC who not so long ago sat right next to you in ODI. Or maybe the most adventurous among you are thinking of trying Australia out for your 2nd year and want to go and live the dream in Adelaide! Well this year Dean Krishnan has set his Fellows the charge of trying to creativly harness the meaningful relationships across the Heinz footprint. We all have friends in the MEIM program who will be in LA next year, and friends in the MSPPM DC track who will be our future policy leaders in the nation’s capital, and we don’t want to lose contact with them. On the contrary, we want to take advantage of our networks outside of Pittsburgh and this year’s Fellows believe there could be some really exciting opportunities to emerge from having colleagues who are dispersed across America and Australia.
We are being trained to work in a virtual world, and as technologies are lending themselves more and more to collaborations through new and exciting mediums, we want to create a meaningful way for Heinzers to learn these evolving skills in communication. It is becoming more important than ever to be able to communicate through technology, whether it be with students across the hall or around the globe.
To make any new initiatives work we need the cooperation of the whole Heinz community. So once again, the 2011 Dean’s Leadership Fellows want to thank you for taking the time to watch this short video and start thinking about ways in which you would like to create meaningful ties with our colleagues across the Heinz footprint.

About the Dean's Leadership Fellows
Each academic year, students from across Heinz College are selected by Dean Ramayya Krishnan to serve as Dean’s Leadership Fellows. These fellows are selected from a competitive application process in which over one hundred students apply each year. The fellows are chosen for their demonstrated dedication to leadership and are charged to work in a team to apply their leadership skills to implement innovative and effective change within the College. The fellows represent a diverse group of Heinz College students from our different academic programs.
