Planning your weekend in Pittsburgh

Local Hotelshttp://www.cmu.edu/about/visit/accommodations.shtml

Staying with a current student:
We are generally not able to meet all requests to stay with a current student as our ability to do so depends upon your travel dates/ requirements and the generosity of our current students. We will do our very best to connect all who request - and you will know by 2 weeks ahead of the event. Please (please) have a plan in place (such as a hotel room booked) should we not be able to meet your request. Most area hotels allow you to cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before arrival, so there is no risk in booking ahead!

Most Heinz graduate students live off-campus (though some do live on-campus), in an apartment or shared home near campus. Those who offer to have you stay will provide: floor space for a sleeping bag, a couch, or spare bed. This is not meant to be a "posh arrangement", but rather a cheap way to spend the weekend, so your sense of adventure is a welcome addition to the arrangement!  We will match prospective students and current students by 2 weeks prior to the event  via email. We are simply a conduit for meeting - All details and arrangements will be handled by you and the current student who has offered their home.

Parking on Campus: When on campus, we recommend parking in the Morewood Parking Lot, located directed across Forbes Ave from Hamburg Hall. This lot is free and open all weekend from Friday at 5:00pm - through Sunday evening.

Getting around Pittsburgh without a car?  If you're here for just a few short days, the bus system may be tough to navigate around town. Here are a few awesome options for getting around our local Pittsburgh area: Lyft Pittsburgh: https://www.lyft.com/cities/pittsburgh    -and-     Uber Pittsburgh: https://www.uber.com/cities/pittsburgh

Transportation to/from the Pittsburgh International Airport:
Taking a cab from the airport can cost up to $60. A cheaper alternative is the PAT Bus "Airport Flyer" 28X. This bus leaves the airport every 30 minutes and the cost is $3.75. Stops are located near several area hotels with a stop also directly on the CMU campus. For a schedule and additional details: http://www.portauthority.org/PAAC/tabid/241/default.aspx
