Grand Opening of Cyber Lounge
Cyber Lounge At Wilkinsburg (CLAW) was created through the collaboration of two consecutive Heinz School systems synthesis project groups and the staff of the Wilkinsburg Intra-Community Network (WIN). CLAW is a site where arts and technology come together for the betterment of a community. The primary purpose of CLAW is to help narrow the digital divide by providing technology-oriented programming in the areas of community development, personal growth, and the arts-while simultaneously embracing and uplifting the Wilkinsburg community.
This year's Systems group consists of students Jada Beaufford, Natalie Greene, Erin Hand, Kwang-Ho Kim and Brandie Knazze, as well as faculty advisor Michael P. Johnson. Goals for this Systems course may be found here. The 2001- 2002 Systems group consisted of 10 students directed by former Assistant Professor of Economics and Education Policy Susan McElroy.
The grand opening of the Cyber Lounge will be held on Saturday April 5, 2003, from noon to 5 pm, at 707 Wood Street, Wilkinsburg. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate with a day full of family friendly events, give-aways and raffles. Entertainment includes comedienne Ron-Dah May, the CAPA High School Jazz Band, face painting and poetry.
