Heinz School Professor's Expertise Sought
Beth Osborne Daponte, a senior research scientist at the Heinz School, was responsible for keeping track of developments in the Middle East during the Gulf War in 1992. Her estimates of casualties far exceeded official reports.
Her expertise is being sought by journalists across the country, many seeking an estimate on likely Iraqi casualties in the event of a second Gulf War. She tells them, "That would be guesswork, not science." Read more in the following stories.
