Delgado to Receive Carnegie Mellon Alumni Service Award

Marco Delgado MS 90 will receive the Carnegie Mellon alumni service award on Friday, October 28, 2005 at a ceremony held in conjunction with the University's Homecoming celebration. He is being honored for his work to help the Heinz School increase its Hispanic student enrollment. He helped to establish a fellowship to support the advancement of Hispanics in public policy and management at the Heinz School and is an active mentor to Hispanic students helping to connect them to job and internship opportunities and creating a community of support. Since the establishment of the Delgado fellowship in 2003, the School has seen a five fold increase in the number of Hispanic applicants and enrollments.

"Marco's efforts have helped us to significantly increase both the applications and enrollments of Hispanic students," noted Heinz School dean Mark Wessel. "He is truly a dedicated volunteer. Not only is he willing to serve as an advisor to help us identify challenges and opportunities, but he goes a step further to commit his time, effort and philanthropic support to make things happen. His commitment to the School is truly unique."

Marco Delgado is currently Principal of Delgado and Associates and the Director and CEO of Power Solutions of North America. He is an attorney working in U.S.-Mexico cross-border trade, investment and international energy law.
