Padman Advises Winning Team in Microsoft Competition

Heinz School Professor Rema Padman served as advisor to a team of Carnegie Mellon students who placed second in the U.S. National Imagine Cup 2005 Software Design Invitational.

The Imagine Cup, now in its third year, is a global technology competition sponsored by Microsoft. The competition is designed to provide an outlet for students to explore technological and artistic interests outside the classroom.

The team of students Bryan Chen, Mark Pimentel and Andy Shen was advised by Rema Padman, Professor of Management Science and Healthcare Informatics.

Their project SmartCare is a healthcare platform that provides easy, more-secure sharing of patient information without the need to completely replace existing information technology infrastructure.
