Arora Delivers Keynote

Ashish Arora, Professor of Economics and Public Policy, delivered the keynote speech at the Conference on Intellectual Property Valuation and Exploitation organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the European Patent Office, and the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour held in Berlin on June 30 and July 1, 2005.

The conference serves as a forum for discussion among policy makers and stakeholders on intellectual property valuation and licensing practices across industries. Results contributed to the ongoing OECD project on intellectual assets and value creation. The results of this project will be presented to OECD Ministers in 2006.

Arora's research centers around the areas of economics of technological change, management of technology, intellectual property rights, and technology licensing. He is currently the Research Director of the Software Industry Center, and specifically, is studying the development of the Indian software industry and its links to the US. An enduring research interest is in understanding the rise and functioning of markets for technology and their consequences.
