Cannon Joins FEMA

Glenn Cannon, MPM 1988, has been appointed as the Director for the Response Division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Cannon has 35 years of experience in the public sector, holding a variety of positions in state and local government. He has served as Director for the Public Safety Department, City of Pittsburgh; Executive Director, Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority; Executive Director, the John J. Kane Regional Centers; and CEO/County Manager for Allegheny County.

Cannon had recently switched focus to the private sector, taking a job with a subsidiary of Tyco Electronics. But according to Cannon, "When you have a chance to serve your president, and the country, it's a whole different situation -- it's enormous."
