Nagin Wins Sutherland Award

Daniel Nagin, the Teresa and H. John Heinz III Professor of Public Policy, is the 2006 recipient of the Edwin H. Sutherland Award. The award, established in 1960 by the American Society of Criminology, recognizes outstanding contributions to theory or research in criminology on the etiology of criminal and deviant behavior, the criminal justice system, corrections, law, or justice.

Nagin's research focuses on the evolution of criminal and antisocial behaviors over the life course, the deterrent effect of criminal and non criminal penalties on illegal behaviors, and the development of statistical methods for analyzing longitudinal data.

Nagin will receive the award at the November ASC meeting, when he will deliver the plenary address.
