Explaining and Preventing Data Security Breaches

"Those who are responsible for securing information systems don't believe their organizations will be the victim of a security breach. Some of them are right -- others are wrong." according to Sasha Romanosky, Heinz School doctoral student.

Romanosky discusses data security, optimism bias and steps that organizations can take to protect data in Pittsburgh's Post-Gazette.

Romanosky, CISSP, has been working with Internet and security technologies for more than 10 years, predominantly within the financial and e-commerce industries. He is the co-developer of the Common Vulnerability Scoring System, an open framework for scoring computer vulnerabilities.
