Student Authors Climate Change Report

Bill Perkins, a Heinz School Dean's Leadership Fellow, recently served as a a Global Change Fellow at the H. John Heinz III Center for Science, Economics and the Environment where he was lead author of a report on “A Survey of Climate Change Adaptation Planning.”

The report summarizes ongoing efforts to deal with the challenges to city, state and regional planners posed by the impacts of climate
change. Eight existing adaptation plans and 18 adaptation planning efforts with a wide variety of impact areas are reviewed. According to Perkins, “Ideally the survey will be useful for both planners and academics in the adaptation community."

The Heinz Center, established in 1995 in memory of Senator John Heinz, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution dedicated to improving the scientific and economic basis for environmental policy and to developing innovative solutions to environmental problems.

The Dean's Leadership Fellows Program at the Heinz School recognizes the achievement and potential of current students and provides opportunities for then to to further develop their leadership skills.
